Our Experiences
The hotel is luxurious and everyone goes out of their way to serve you, but it is an older hotel and it starts to show in some areas.
As we were only there two nights, we didn’t get much time to explore around the hotel, but we did take advantage of the rooftop pool, and the highlight of our stay, the the 3 hour buffet dinner, assuming you got there when they open. Dinner at the hotel consists of two options (that we saw). You could either do a full buffet that featured everything from salad, to seafood, to the BBQ, or just the BBQ. The seafood had a pretty good spread, including Maine lobster (limited to 1 per person) and crab, but it was almost twice the price of just the BBQ, which had everything from beef, to pork, to lamb, and vegetables thought the vegetable selection was quite limited. We opted for the just the BBQ, knowing we could easily be happy with that. Upon being seated, we were also informed that they had a “bottomless drinks” package that included your fill of beer, wine, or champagne for the same 3 hour window. We found this to be an outstanding deal and ate and drank our moneys worth.
During the one full day we stayed there, it rained pretty hard in the afternoon so we took the opportunity to walk around the mall that is below the Conrad. There is an elevator in the hotel that takes you down to the top floor of the hotel and plenty of other elevators and escalators to get around, making it easy to stay dry on a rainy afternoon.
I mentioned earlier that the hotel was older and it showed in some areas. These were fairly minor, but noticeable. For example, the room doors did not have soft-close features, so you heard every time your neighbors came end went through the night. Additionally, the shower head was noticeably dated and the nozzles didn’t all aim at you. You ever get in the shower and 1/3 of the water goes sideways? yeah… With some minor renovations, this hotel could be the best of the best in Hong Kong.
