Comments: Great trip, beautiful scenery, well worth it. Would not do it again since I feel I got what I wanted out of it, but I highly recommend others do it if they have never been before. On par with the Big Bus tours we have done in other countries.

Comments: It was awesome seeing so much of Hong Kong with one trip. The Peak Tram was amazing. If you go on your own, do not buy tickets to the Peak Terrace unless you absolutely need perfect pictures. You can go most of the way to the top for free and there restaurant (Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., believe it or not) with glass windows all around where you can eat lunch, have a beer, and enjoy the same scenery, just with a pane of glass in your way. I want to go again!

Our Experiences
Big Bus tours of Hong Kong offers three routes in and around Hong Kong. All three can be completed in one day, if you take minimal stops, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Fortunately, they offer several different packages to suit your needs, including: a “Discover” ticket that will get you one of the three routes plus a one-way ferry ticket; an “Essential” ticket that offers all three routes plus round trip ferry tickets; and an “Explore” ticket that offers the same as “Discover” but also includes one entry to your choice three attractions. Both the Discover and Essential tickets are good for 24 hours, while the Explore ticket is good for 48 hours.
From our perspective, the Explore ticket was the best value as it gives you all the time you need, all the routes, and is cheaper than buying the parts individually. We choose this ticket and selected the “Peak Tram Special Combo” as our inclusion. Additionally, we went in to this knowing that we were only going to do two of the three routes and not use the ferry tickets, and we still think it was the best deal.
We started on the red line and rode it around the city to its last stop, Peak Tram, which took about an hour to get to. This is where we utilized our included tickets, rode the tram up and spent a couple of hours overlooking the beautiful scenery. This inclusion also came with access to the “Peak Terrace”, which is the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong, at over 1,400 feet (428 meters) above sea level.
From there, we picked up the green line, which has it’s very first stop at Peak Tram. We rode it around its full path, taking about 2 hours to get to its end point. During the tours, Big Bus provides headphones and pre-recorded audio which explains the sites and locations you are approaching. With a mix of audio and beautiful scenery, we were not bored.
In all, this was a great 5 hour day trip and we really feel we got our moneys worth, even though we didn’t use the ferry tickets or the 3rd line.
