Our Experiences

From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The check-in process was easy and comfortable. They had us sit in chairs off to the side while they took our information and walked back and fourth between us and their computers. During this time, the food and beverage director, who was working the bar that day, came up to us, introduced himself, and offered us a drink. When the check-in process was done, the counter agent gave us our room keys and escorted us to our room.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and importantly, well air conditioned. Mauritius is hot.

The resort itself is pretty large, featuring multiple pools, a large beach front, and 3 a-la-carte restaurants and a buffet:

Coquillages Restaurant & Bar (Lunch and Dinner)

Unfortunately, we did not get to experience this restaurant as it was closed during our visit. We arrived just after one typhoon passed by Mauritius and just before another was set to arrive. Being on the beach, this restaurant remained closed do the potential flooding. From what we heard of it, it is focused on Italian food. This is the primary lunch location, when a typhoon isn’t busy trying to ruin your vacation.

Kesari Restaurant (Dinner)

Indian cuisine in a comfortable covered outdoor setting with views of the ocean. We ate dinner here once and it was really good. We were the only ones in the restaurant and did note that most nights it was either mostly or completely empty. Not sure why, but we did enjoy it.

Pomme d’Amour Restaurant (Buffet – Breakfast and Dinner)

Featuring a large buffet, this restaurant features a vast assortment of international selections for breakfast and a new themed cuisine each night. We ate dinner here on two different occasions, trying to experience the different themes, and both times we were impressed and stuffed. Each theme offers plenty of selection so even the most picky of eaters will find something to enjoy.

Ginger Thai Restaurant & Bar

This was by far our favorite restaurant. Focused on Thai food, as you could guess from the name, there were plenty of selections for those that love it spicy or not. Some of our favorites dishes include: Chicken satay with peanut sauce, Papaya salad, Spicy beef salad, Tom Yum soup, and the Prawn Pad Thai. We had to keep going back to try new things because everything was so good.

We really enjoyed our time at this hotel and highly recommend it if you are visiting Mauritius. All the staff were extremely friendly and we felt very relaxed, even if the weather wasn’t cooperating.
