Our Experiences
This all day (6 hour) adventure started at a convenient meeting location. Once everyone had arrived, we boarded a charter bus that took us to our first location, the Peak Tram. The tram is essentially a trolly, but it pulls you up a very steep mountain, usually at angles greater than 45 degrees. Quite an interesting ride as you watch the buildings pass you by on the way up. At the top, we were given free time to walk around the area and enjoy the breathtaking views. A very short walk from the guides meeting point is the Lion’s View Pavilion, which offers the best views of the stop.
While the bus takes you from one location to the next, the tour guide provided very interesting information about the areas we were in, and their history. Our second stop was at Old Town Central where we spent quite a bit of time being guided around and shown numerous interesting sights, including the worlds longest outdoor escalator. One other very interesting stop was an old prison, that is now a history museum. During your free time at the prison, don’t forget to stop in one of the prison blocks that has a small caffe where you can order a coffee (or a beer) and drink it in a cell.
We ended the tour with what can only be described as a feast. When booking the trip, it was described as “dim sum tasing at the Michelin-awarded Tim Ho Wan restaurant”. What we got, was a full meal from tea and appetizers, to soup, to multiple dim sums, to deserts, and plenty of rice along the way. What we thought was going to be a snack, ended up being lunch and most of dinner.
