Comments: The light show was ok at best. The boat ride was uncomfortable, but survivable. My favorite part was seeing my wife enjoy it. Would not recommend to others.

Would I recommend: Yes
Comments: I enjoyed seeing the buildings on the harbour on the way there and the way back. The light show was nothing impressive. Not really a romantic type of excursion like I thought it would be.

Our Experiences

We took the night tour that included the light show across the buildings of the harbour. The boat itself, “Dukling”, was the oldest Chinese “junk boat” remaining in Hong Kong. The overall trip is about 45 minutes. This consist of about 15 minutes to get to the location where you will watch the light show, 15 minutes for the show, and a 15 minute return trip. Bonus: 1 free beer per person. There was pre-recorded audio explaining the history of the boat but it was mostly ignored while we watched the buildings along the harbour pass us by.

The light show consisted of numerous buildings on both sides of the harbour displaying different lighted effects, and in some cases the buildings next to each other were in synch. The boat played some light music to help inform you that the show was starting and to help keep you entertained.

Pro Tip: If you plan for 20 minutes of travel time to get there, you better make it 40. Traffic can get crazy at certain times of the day and we barely made it.

Pro Tip 2: Try to sit up front. The exhaust, in the back, puts out strong fumes and can get to you, depending on the wind.
